Can Insurance Specialists Be Considered Reliable in Complex Property Matters?

I'm dealing with some issues around a multi-unit property and trying to understand whether working with insurance specialists is actually worth the effort. Not talking about basic car or health insurance here — more like property-related insurance, particularly in the context of shared buildings. A friend suggested reaching out to professionals who handle Strata insurance, but I’m a bit unsure how reliable these specialists are when it comes to navigating nuanced or overlapping ownership issues. From what I’ve gathered, strata insurance involves covering things like shared walls, lobbies, roofs, and other communal areas, but the legal and financial implications seem pretty layered. I get that specialists can help interpret policies, handle claims, and even negotiate better coverage, but are they truly working in the client’s best interest? Do they offer transparency, or are they just middlemen trying to upsell? If anyone’s had experience working with insurance professionals in this space, especially in complex property setups, I’d appreciate hearing how it went — good or bad. I’m hoping to find out whether it’s actually helpful to bring in a specialist or just another layer of red tape.

One thing I appreciated was how they could break down what exactly was covered in a very specific way, like whether damage from a leak between floors falls under building or contents coverage. They’ve also helped when it came to navigating a claim that would’ve been buried in paperwork otherwise. I wouldn’t say they replaced the need for understanding the basics myself, but they definitely prevented us from making costly mistakes.
